Morger + Dettli
The buildings and projects of Morger + Dettli are the result of a contextual way of working, in which important, but also seemingly unimportant, but always specific conditions of the site are elaborated. With the help of this kind of searching for traces, the architects succeed in giving the rational process of joining building components a suggestive poetic moment. In this respect, their architecture is less the result of formal intentions than a programme.
The architecture firm Morger + Dettli, based in Basel, was founded in 2006 by Meinrad Morger and Fortunat Dettli. The firm works on a variety of projects, ranging from private to public projects in Switzerland and abroad. Tailor-made architectural solutions are always created that reinterpret the site and its usage.
The residential projects realised include the Erlenmatt residential building in Basel, completed in 2009, with cost-effective, urban apartments, characterized by a wide variation of floor plan typologies, and the Perron 1 residential and commericial building in Solothurn, especially due to its location in the immediate vicinity of the railroad tracks and the resulting compactness and introversion. Morger + Dettli also completed the residential project «Am Herterweiher» in Uster, which provides exclusive housing in idyllic surroundings.
